Here are a few pictures from our road trip in Croatia from Dubrovnik to Rijeka with stops in Ston, Split, Trogir, Krka park and Plitvice lakes.
We first stopped in Ston, a cute little town famous for its city walls. So, we climbed these well-known walls and had a pique nique on top facing amazing views on Ston and Mali Ston (another little town). It was quite exhausting to take all these stairs but apparently it is not anymore for a lot of people of this region as they organize a marathon on these city walls with starting point in Ston and arrival in Mali Ston!
After leaving Ston, we reached Split where we spent a night. We enjoyed the charming old town of Split though we found Split more touristic than Dubrovnik.
The next day, we went to Trogir and visited its historic center which has been included into UNESCO world heritage sites. We went to a bakery and had very good (not as good as the French ones of course but almost!) croissants and Croatian pastry with fresh orange juice sitting on a bench in front of the harbour. This gave us the energy we needed to have fun in Krka park during the afternoon where we saw waterfalls and could even get a swim! By the end of the day, we reached Plitvice lakes.
So on our third day, we woke up in Plitvice lakes and visited the whole park. Plitvice lakes is also part of the UNESCO world heritage and for good reasons! It’s a succession of lakes, waterfalls with the highest one being 70 meters high, that you discover while walking in a forest. We loved it!
